Novus Builds Grasstops Public Affairs Campaign for Alliance for New Hampshire Jobs
When a top nationwide business and labor relations advocacy organization decided to launch a statewide partner group in New Hampshire called the Alliance for New Hampshire Jobs (ANHJ), they called on Novus to develop an earned media and grasstops coalition building plan to drum up support for their legislative agenda surrounding the 2010 midterm election.
Not only did the Novus team face the challenge of creating a positive advocacy environment for a specific legislative issue in the extremely fast-paced and high stakes climate surrounding a major federal election, but also of putting an entirely new organization on the map at the same time.
Novus developed and lunched an aggressive, innovative plan to raise public awareness of the ANHJ’s agenda, recruit key influentials across the state to provide organic support, and ensure that the issue was kept at the forefront of the dialogue among New Hampshire’s candidates for federal office.
Novus professionals put their expert knowledge of the New Hampshire political environment and key players into action to quickly establish ANHJ’s legitimacy and create a groundswell of support among the business and community leaders determined to have maximum influence on the targeted candidates.
Novus’ management of ANHJ’s public affairs campaign resulted in dozens of intercepts of targeted candidates by key influentials, detailed discussion of ANHJ’s top issue at two out of four U.S. Senate candidate debates, and extensive earned media attention from radio, print media, and the blogosphere.
The initiative culminated in an interactive Telephone Town Hall meeting hosted by top New Hampshire political figures and key state business leaders with over 1,600 New Hampshire voters on the line.
